Shannon Foynes Port Company (SFPC) has announced its intention to play an active part in supporting the establishment of a sustainable energy industry cluster in Ireland. Working with various other development agencies, SFPC has identified the key needs of the various industry actors, and is positioned to secure a key role in the future growth of the sector, either by facilitating the shipping and transport of the devices which will be manufactured to service the demand for renewable energy; or by providing port facilities for companies which need to service the ocean-based equipment which will harness the tremendous potential of wind, tidal and wave energy on Ireland’s west coast, and indeed further afield in north-west Europe.
