SFPC sets high standards in managing its business

Shannon Foynes Port Company is pleased to announce that its management system has been certified to ISO (International Standard’s Organisation) 9001:2000 level by Lloyds Register Quality Assurance. The certificate of approval covers the company’s main activities, namely, the provision of a safe haven for shipping in the Shannon Estuary by traffic management within the port limits, the maintenance and development of terminal and shore-side facilities and the operation of cargo handling and logistics services.

 

This approval is awarded following rigorous scrutiny and assessment of the company’s management systems and its commitment to best practice in its processes; the ISO standard places particular emphasis on customer satisfaction and a philosophy of continuous improvement. According to Martin Morrissey , SFPC Commercial Manager who also has responsibility for the quality management system: “This certification by a renowned international body assures all our customers and stakeholders that we apply a very high standard of care in all our activities, whether related to marine operations in the Shannon Estuary, or to our extensive shore-side services which include cargo handling, warehousing and logistics.” He continued that “SFPC is one of the few port authorities to have achieved this standard of management practice, and is recognition that the company’s dedication to the principle of providing best-in-class service is being successfully implemented.”
